Telescopic Fellowship - Spring 04

We planned the fellowship six weeks in advance after reading about the spectacular appearance of Saturn and Jupiter visible in the early evening night sky.  When Saturday finally came, it was overcast.  Everyone was concerned that we would not have a clear sky, but by the time dusk fell, the sky was clear enough to see Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and the bright star Sirius.    We also viewed the Big Dipper and the North Star.  Venus was a spectacular view as the telescope showed that it was only a 3/4 orb.  We could see four moons of Jupiter, and the stripes on the side of the planet.

We had grilled hamburgers and cookies to eat.  The teens played catch with the fluorescent football and Frisbee as well as the boomerang, while the adults did what they like to do best....sit around and talk.

We had 42 in attendance with 8 visitors.  Five were 1st time visitors.

Bro. Meier taught a devotion using the watch that he found at the fellowship site that had been laying there evolving for millions and billions of years, and had come to it's full evolution, even to the point of being set to the right time......even daylight savings time.  (if you believe that I have a ton of currently used college science books to sell you along with the Brooklyn Bridge.....cheap!)  Bro. Meier stated that if you couldn't believe that the watch had evolved, how could you believe that the standard by which the watch was set to could be evolved.  Since that heavenly standard obeys the natural laws of gravity and centrifugal force that were established by the Creator that set it in motion, and that you are subject to those laws whether you believe in them or not;  you should know that there are some other laws that the Creator set up that you are subject to as well.  Your scientific opinion of them is immaterial.  You can believe whatever you want now, but when you cross the grave you will be operating according to those laws......... objections overruled!
